Jessica Barker is currently an M.S. student in the Department of Communication here at North Carolina State University. Along with being a graduate teaching assistant and public speaking instructor, she has spent over a year with the Center for Family and Community Engagement as a Communication Specialist.
Jessica graduated summa cum laude from Appalachian State University where she received her B.S. in Communication Studies. She also completed minors in Non-Profit Management and Music. With a great passion for non-profit work, Jessica hopes to pursue a career in the field after completing her master's degree.
Jessica is excited to develop her communication skills and knowledge while at NC State and working with CFACE. She believes CFACE provides her with many opportunities to put theory into practice, as she works on projects that align her academic and professional interests.
Teaching and Research Interests
Jessica teaches public speaking and her primary research interests are in rhetorical, organizational, and interpersonal communication.
Jessica's primary responsibilities for the Center involve internal and external communication. This includes strategic planning, marketing, and social media/website content creation and design.
